New York Philharmonic to Stage 'Carousel' Next Year

The New York Phiharmonic has just announced the 2012-13 season, which will include a staged production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic Carousel from February 27 to March 2, 2013, directed by James Brennan and conducted by Rob Fisher, the same team behind the Philharmonic’s acclaimed 2007 production of My Fair Lady (which starred Kelsey Grammar and Kelli O'Hara). The musical includes such iconic American songs as "If I Loved You" and "You'll Never Walk Alone."

No word yet on who would star as the ill-fated (and decidedly dysfunctional) Julie and Billy in this new production, but a concert version at Carnegie Hall 10 years ago featured Tony-winners Audra McDonald and Hugh Jackman. Maybe a reunion is in order?
