It’s spring, the season to get buff, but we say it’s time to leave the gym for some more scenic settings.

We hear the Shard, the tallest building in Western Europe, is now a yoga hotspot in London. Every Saturday, The Shard opens its observatories — 800 feet above the city — for a one-hour yoga class that’s taught by Mandy Jhamat and Leo Lourdes, founders of Yogasphere. Weather permitting, the early-morning class of no more than 50 people takes place on the open-air sky deck on the 72nd floor (otherwise the enclosed observatory will be used). Mats and a goody bag will be provided, but the best part is the majestic view. Contact Yogasphere reservations at [email protected], 011-440-203-086-9899 or 646-383-6024 for a place to rest your mat.

Into a more high-speed activity — like mountain biking? This spring and fall, Holiday River Expeditions will lead biking expeditions through the Maze district of Canyonlands National Park, the least accessible part of the park. Tip: the Maze trip is designed for intermediate to advanced bikers, and last-minute bookings can often be made with some flexibility. Two guides will lead the four-day three-night trip of just seven riders through various trails. Bikers will camp along the way, but support vans provide gourmet meals like Dutch oven lasagna, salmon and salads.

The only thing riders have to worry about is taking in the views of the sloping canyons and cliff sides. Contact Karen Johnson, reservationist, at [email protected] with questions.
