London Buzz: Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Set for Renovation

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London

Come September London’s Mandarin Oriental hotel will undergo a $130 million renovation. Overlooking Hyde Park and Knightsbridge, the hotel is home to an eight-room spa and two destination restaurants: Bar Boulud and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park will stay open with reduced inventory during the construction work, which is expected to take 20 months.

There will be a full refurbishment of the 167 rooms and 26 suites, public areas, restaurants and meeting venues, along with an expansion of the spa. As reported by Forbes, the upgrade will include the addition of a 9th floor suite with expansive views over the famous park. (CoStar News suggests that it’s two new penthouse suites.) London remains a popular destination for high-end travelers, and the goal of this large-scale refurbishment is to “confirm Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s European flagship hotel as one of the leading luxury hotels in the world.”
