New Givenchy-Scented Cocktails at Hotel Café Royal, London

Givenchy cocktails at Cafe Royal in London

In the cocktail-loving town of London, there’s a new novelty at Hotel Café Royal. The hotel’s Green Bar, famously home to an Absinthe Fountain, is rolling out a cocktail menu inspired by Givenchy’s L’atelier collection of perfumes. Starting February 1, you’ll be able to sample seven different drinks concocted by Tiziano Tasso, mixologist at The Club at Café Royal.

The concept is similar to the bar launched by The Ritz-Carlton Berlin, where guests sniff different scents to determine their corresponding cocktails. It’s also similar to La Dame de Pic restaurant in Paris, where diners indulge in unique menus based on the perfume they choose at the beginning of the meal. (There are a selection of perfume blotters to sniff.)

At the Hotel Café Royal’s bar, the cocktails mirror the spices and notes found in the seven different perfumes. The Cuir Blanc, for example, is a “Martini-style cocktail made using Siberian pine needle extract to give a “woody and fresh taste,” explains The Spirits Business. Available until March 31; priced at £13/cocktail.
