The sales have hit the city. A stop at Selfridges & Co should definitely be in the cards. Stocking the latest and hippest in fashion, the luxury department store is celebrating the big 1-0-0 this year. Visitors to the Oxford Street flagship may be keen on sampling the famous Salt Beef sandwich (hands down the best in the city), but they can also check out a neat exhibition in the Ultralounge which shows the story behind the store's first century in existence. Get the scoop on founder Harry Gordon Selfridge, known as the "showman
of shopping" who "championed
shopping for fun rather than necessity." After all, it was Selfridge himself who coined the phrase, "the customer is always right."
