DC Eats: Capital Wine Festival at The Fairfax at Embassy Row

Last night was the kick-off event for the Capital Wine Festival, now in its third year. For the next 10 weeks (through March 28), The Fairfax at Embassy Row, a Luxury Collection Hotel, will host an intimate dinner every Wednesday night featuring top-notch American wineries at 2100 Prime. (The hotel’s restaurant is named for its address: 2100 Massachusetts Ave, NW in the nation's capital.) Some of the wineries include Napa greats like Cakebread and Beringer. Starting at $125 (including gratuity), the dinners match the wines with excellent dishes-- like crisp duck confit or boneless short ribs.

This is the D.C. edition of a national festival series that started with the launch of the Boston Wine Festival 23 years ago. In its long history, the festival has witnessed more than 75,000 bottles of wine poured and imbibed. For more information about the event, see www.capitalwinefestival.com.
