Luxe North Carolina Hotel Opens Dog Playground

Good news for those who want to travel to North Carolina with Fido: The Umstead Hotel and Spa has built a new, enclosed playground for dogs right on property. Named DogWoods (in a nod to the Dogwood trees indigenous to the area and to North Carolina’s state flower), the new playground gives pups plenty of space for running, jumping, fetching (bonus: tennis balls are complimentary) and other traditional doggie pursuits (napping and eating, we imagine).

Even better, guests who bring their pups to the hotel will get a plush bed, water bowl and treats in their rooms.

According to the Triangle Business Journal, the Umstead Hotel has always had a policy that allows guests to bring pets onto the hotel property and into its guest rooms, as long as the guest was also willing to pay a one-time, $200 deep-cleaning fee.
