Ritz-Carlton New Orleans to Restore Historic Facade

Ritz-Carlton New Orleans

There’s always something brewing in New Orleans. (Check our spring list of top events, museums, airline and cruise news in the Big Easy.) The latest hotel buzz is that the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans will embark on a restoration project this summer to polish the historic façade and bring it back to its early 20th century origins. This project commences after the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans recently finished renovations of its Maison Orleans wing (the hotel’s exclusive club level) in addition to the Ritz-Carlton Suite (the hotel’s Presidential Suite). Prior to that, the hotel completed a makeover in 2011 of 415 Deluxe guest rooms and 36 Executive and Junior Suites.

Soon the “Crown Jewel of Canal Street” will be looking pretty on the outside too. HotelChatter reports that the 1909 building once featured a terracotta pediment over its entrance, which will be recreated by Pascal Architects, LLC using old-timey photos. Faded signs on the S.H. Kress Co. building have also been recreated to be installed where they existed originally. For more information, visit www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/NewOrleans/Default.htm.
