Is an adventure to the Arctic or Antarctic not enough for you? Poseidon Expeditions is adding more off-ship camping and sea kayaking to their 114-passenger luxury vessel M/V Sea Spirit excursions.
Sleep comfortably on Antarctica as part of Poseidon’s expanded on-land camping experience. Guests will be provided with a mummy-shaped sleeping bag (rated up to 0ºF), a freshly laundered cotton sleeping bag liner, and a full-length insulated foam sleeping pad. Shelter options are between a bivouac and a deluxe two-person dome tent, including a vestibule space for gear. Remember: It's all about the adventure.
For guests who choose the bivouac, they will dig their own fox holes and will enjoy a night under the stars. A sense of adventure and full stomach (no food is allowed ashore) are all that’s needed.
For guests who wish to spend as much of their cruise on the water as possible, they can join the exclusive Sea Kayak Club, which goes out in groups of eight or 16 (in the Arctic or Antarctic, respectively). A real workout may be in store for these adventurers as trips of three hours or six nautical miles aren’t uncommon.
An intensive safety orientation is a prerequisite, while a qualified sea kayak guide and safety Zodiac will accompany each voyage. Polar‐quality Kokatat paddling suits and paddling-specific life jackets will be provided as well.
