The Ritz-Carlton Debuts First Spa in Oahu

As if Hawaii wasn’t relaxing enough, now another spa has just arrived to the island of Oahu for vacationers and locals to enjoy. The Ritz-Carlton Spa has just debuted at Oahu’s The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach, providing guests with luxury spa treatments inspired by the elements and healing powers of the Hawaiian islands natural resources.

The spa welcomes guests to discover customized treatments and services inspired by tradition Hawaiian healing methods and Hawaii’s natural surroundings. Located on the eighth floor lobby level of the newly opened residential resort, the 3,400 square foot spa serves as a tranquil escape above the bustling streets of Waikiki, featuring contemporary and elegant spaces among two levels, complete with three treatment rooms, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a rainforest shower, eucalyptus steam room, a dry cedar sauna, and more, including a retail and reception area.

The menu for the spa was developed by Hawaii Rainforest Naturals co-founder and Hawaiian cultural practitioner Melia Goodenow, a native of Hawaii. Goodenow is the mind behind the spa’s approach to highlighting the natural surroundings of the ahupua’a subdivision of Waikiki (stretching from Manoa Valley to Waikiki Beach) as influencers behind the spa’s signature treatments. All of the spa’s signature services come with the Henoheno Ritual, where guests are presented with a warm and cherishing Hawaiian welcome of ‘ano’ai ke aloha before embarking on their journey with a foot bath, including a light lomilomi foot massage with a yellow ginger flower essence exfoliant.

Signature spa treatments include Ho’omalu: A Sense of Peace, Huki Huki: Renew, and Manoa Mist: revitalize. Ho’omalu, base of the traditional Hawaiian ‘awa rituals, creates a personal place of peace through the clearing of the mind and creating a renewed presence. The treatment includes ground leg and foot mask, deep lomilomi massage and a scalp treatment. Huki Huki used the sacred ki plant that is traditionally used for spiritual and medicinal purposes. The ki plant will be used to huki, or pull, the toxins and tension out of spa-goers bodies to reneger and cleanse the mind, body and spirit. The treatment includes a mud wrap, an energizing lomilomi massage and a scalp treatment. The Manoa Mist features healing ‘olena, or tumeric, and native aloha blossoms to encourage vitality and rejuvenation in the body. The treatment includes a full-body sugar exfoliation in addition to an energizing lomilomi massage.

Other treatments and spa services include herbal body remedies, massage therapies, facials and skin boosters. To create your own spa at home, the spa retail center features products by ESPA, The Ritz-Carlton Spa Fresh, Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals, Knesko, Coola, Yoga Balm and more. The Ritz-Carlton gift cards are also available for purchase, which can be used for spa treatments.
