Berlin Buzz: Latest Happenings in the German Capital

Alongside the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Berlin is buzzing with exciting new openings and offers. Here’s our roundup.

The Ritz-Carlton has opened Fragrances, Berlin’s latest concept bar, which is dedicated to scents and aromas. Designed with sensory appeal in mind, guests can relax with an evening cocktail inspired by iconic fragrances by Giorgio Armani, L’Artisan Parfumeur and Annick Goutal, Yves Saint Laurent and Guerlain. Open Wednesday to Saturday from 6pm, guests can choose from a menu of 15drinks, all created by bar manager Arnd Heissen.

June saw the opening of Germany’s largest spa, the 21,500 square foot Vabali Spa Berlin, situated in the heart of the Mitte. Guests will be able to unwind in one of the 11 saunas, on the rooftop terrace or with one of the luxurious spa treatments. The more actively inclined can check out the work-out facility.

Berlin hotels are offering special Wall anniversary packages:

At the Westin, guests can literally bring a piece of Berlin home with them, by chipping their own wall piece from an original piece of the wall, guest can also enjoy a traditional currywurst alongside a glass of champagne.

Kempinksi Hotel Berlin is offering a ''wall surprise’’ alongside a personally guided trabi tour, where guests will get to experience a little of Berlin’s eastern European past in a novel trabant.

The Maritime ProArt hotel has a two-night anniversary package, which will include an original Berlin currywust, sparkling wine and free admission to the GDR museum.
