Berlin to Get New Sofitel Hotel

Big news for Germany's luxury hotel scene: Sofitel Luxury Hotels has signed a management contract for the Hotel Concorde Berlin which, as of February 1 of next year will be known as the Sofitel Berlin Kurfürstendamm.

Sofitel has been operating in Berlin for 14 years (the Sofitel Berlin Gendarmenmarkt is well-established), but this contract will boost the brand's presence in Germany and in Europe. Together with the Sofitel Hamburg Alter Wall and the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost, the brand already manages four properties in Germany - due to be joined by a further top hotel, the Sofitel Frankfurt am Alte Oper, as of 2015.

Sofitel now has more than 30 hotels in Europe and is expanding in key cities. The company recently undertook extensive renovation and remodeling projects at the Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe (with Studio Putman) and at Sofitel Strasbourg Grand Ile, Sofitel Golfe D'Ajaccio Thalassa sea & spa and Sofitel Warsaw Victoria.

The new Berlin hotel will get the brand's next renovation: Between February 2014 and the third quarter of the year, in association with hotel architect Jan Kleihues, the public areas, the restaurants and the bar of the Sofitel Berlin Kurfürstendamm will be updated. The 311 guestrooms including 44 suites, will get new beds.
