We’ve been keeping tabs on MGallery, the new hotel brand from Accor that has been opening some buzzworthy hotels (think the Molitor in Paris). The “M” in MGallery stands for “memorable,” and these unique hotels are designed to reflect their local setting with individuality and flair.

The latest is the Balthazar Hotel & Spa, which is the first five-star hotel for the city of Rennes, the capital of Brittany, in France. A massive four-year renovation project has connected two separate buildings; there are now 56 guest rooms designed with natural materials in a contemporary style to create the vibe of a traditional Breton home. All rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi and walk-in showers, while the three suites have terraces overlooking the rooftops of Rennes.

Particularly noteworthy is the luxurious Nuxe Spa, which has an expansive “sensory” area with a hammam, sauna, ice fountain and pool. The restaurant menu was designed by award-winning Chef Michel Rostang and his daughters, and focuses on local products.
