Broadway Buzz - Neil Patrick Harris to Star in Broadway Bow of Cult Rock Musical

Now that How I Met Your Mother is entering its final season, star Neil Patrick Harris is making good on his promise to return to Broadway: Playbill.com is reporting that the Emmy-winning actor and singer will be leading a revival of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's cult classic rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

The show is scheduled to make its Broadway debut (it ran for years at the off-Broadway Jane Street Theatre) in spring 2014. The remaining creative team members, additional casting and the theater have yet to be announced, but keep an eye on LuxuryTravelAdvisor.com for more updates as the next Broadway season takes shape.

"I am simultaneously ecstatic and terrified to be stepping into Hedwig's heels," Harris said in a statement. "It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime role and I can't wait to begin the journey."

Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a musical comedy about a fictional rock 'n' roll band fronted by the titular transgendered singer. After its off-Broadway run, it was made into a movie musical starring Mitchell and a young pre-Boardwalk Empire Michael Pitt.
