We hear the location will provide year-round game viewing for guests, plus proximity to migrating wildebeest and zebra herds from November to May. The camp will also be close to Moru Kopjes, huge granite rock formations that burst through the grass plains.

The new camp will be a 20 minute game drive from the Serenora Airstrip, with flights from Kogatende, Lake Manyara, Arusha, Kilimanjaro (JRO), Dar Es Saalam and Zanzibar.

Mara Bushtops Camp

Roving Bushtops will be the third camp from Bushtops, following Mara Busthops and Serengeti Bushtops, which opened in June 2010.

Mara Bushtops has 12 tents on the side of a hill in Bushtops Conservancy, bordering the Masai Mara, and is the only camp in the Mara with a salt lick (good for attracting wildlife).

The tents are the brainchild of Swiss designer Andrin Schweizer, and are open on three sides with a private wooden deck and a private hot tub where one can relax and look out over the stunning scenery.

Mara Bushtops Camp and Spa also offers the family-friendly Leopard Tent, which has two bedrooms and with added cots -- enough for a family of six. There is also a fireplace, wine wall (for the parents) and minibar.

Andrin Schweizer also designed the Amani Spa Village at Mara Bushtops Camp, winner of the 2015 World Luxury Spa Awards. The wooden relaxation deck offers views of the camp’s salt lick and the surrounding area. A heated infinity pool at the Spa provides “beds” inside the pool complete with water jets.

Serengeti Bushtops Camp

Serengeti Bushtops Camp also has 12 tents, each open on two sides and surrounded by a wooden deck, private hot tub and open air shower.  All tents face the sunset and panoramic views of the Serengeti.

Key highlight: The camp is positioned to view the annual migration of wildebeest over the Mara River.

Both of the currently open camps offer safaris in open vehicles for better views of the wildlife. Other activities include Walking Safaris, tours of a local school and village, archery demonstrations, and Kuria Bao, a traditional board game. Camp fires are provided each night next to the dining tent.

A private butler is available for each tent in both camps. Rates range from $710 to $970 per person per night at Mara Bushtops and $700 to $970 per person per night at Serengeti Bushtops, depending on the season.  Rates include accommodation, all meals, two extended game drives or full day game drive with picnic lunch, walking safari, sun downer and night game drive, visit to villages, transfers from airstrip, non-alcoholic drinks, beers, house wines and selected house spirits, laundry, wifi, and private conservancy fees.  At Mara Bushtops, complimentary membership in the Amani African Spa is also included. All safaris are accompanied by a professional ranger.
