Here's a new place to unwind in California: We hear the Island Hotel Newport Beach has opened its new Island Club—reportedly the only luxury hotel club lounge experience available in the Newport Coastal area. The 20th-floor lounge has top views of the coast and the ocean beyond, and is a great pick for business travelers or couples looking for some exclusivity.
Inside, club "Ambassadors" can help arrange curbside check-ins, shoe shines, dry cleaning and travel or even assist guests with tech questions or make reservations at a local hot spot. In addition, Club Ambassadors will assist guests in making selections from the hotel’s pillow menu (green tea infused, buckwheat, feather, foam, memory foam, etc), make arrangements for one-on-one styling advice from the hotel’s personal shopper at Fashion Island, and book the hotel’s car service to any Newport Center Drive location. Club Lounge guests also receive turndown service every night, and access to all wet areas within The Spa at Island Hotel.
The lounge's design includes plush conversational seating areas as well as several quiet areas for those who would rather work than chat. Bonus: Sports or movie fans will want to check out the media room with its 80-inch LED smart TV. Guests can try a range of snacks as they watch news, entertainment or sports programming. A 50-title DVD library with both classics and current releases—along with an expanded periodicals selection of news, business and lifestyle titles—are also available in the media room for guests to borrow and enjoy while at the hotel. The lounge also has four 50-inch LED Smart TVs and wireless headsets.
The Island Club lounge has 40 USB ports and charging stations to keep all devices full charged. WiFi access capacity in the lounge will accommodate up to 125 concurrent devices (mobile phones, computers, projectors, iPods, tablets, etc) through Beamflex technology with adaptive signal steering at an adapted range. Streamed connections within the lounge will also remain secure thanks to the three-levels of isolation each signal receives to prevent hacking or unauthorized scans while devices are in use. Bandwidth allocation of 20mbs megabits per second for uploading and downloading within the lounge gives guests the bandwidth to stream and download seamlessly and continuously.
Executive Chef David Man has designed California-inspired menu experiences for guests to try throughout the day. Breakfast selections include California Eggs Benedict (Sun), mini smoked salmon bagel sandwiches (Fri) to breakfast meats, grains and sliced fruits. Midday selections that keep it light feature a selection of fresh salads (from chopped to Asian Chicken salad), specialty wraps with grilled steak (Fri), Tuna (Tues), and grilled veggies (Mon), along with artisan sandwiches and specialty soups. Early evening selections (‘wine-down’) to enjoy with the spectacular sunsets include Ahi Tuna Tartar (Sat), Beef Wellingtons (Fri), and Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp (Tues) accompanied by artisan flat breads made daily. Complementary wine, champagne, beer, juices and sodas are served throughout the day.
