Canopy by Hilton Opens First Hotel in Reykjavik

Canopy by Hilton, in partnership with Icelandair Hotels, has announced the opening of its first hotel in the city of Reykjavik.
 
Canopy by Hilton Reykjavik City Centre, located on Hverfisgata Street in the center of the Icelandic capital, is surrounded by several iconic attractions including Laugavegur, a street known for its shopping and eateries, Harpa Concert Hall, the Convention Center and Old Reykjavik Harbor, which offers views of Mount Esja and Hallgrimskirkja church.
 
Guests staying at the hotel can sample Omnom chocolate on site, enjoy water naturally filtered by Icelandic lava, and explore local literature in the hotel’s poets’ corner. The property also has an LP library holding records that can be played at any of the ten on-property record players.

For evening dining, guests can head to the Geiri Smart restaurant led by Jóhannes Steinn Jóhannesson and Bjarni Siguroli Jakobsson. The restaurant offers locally inspired dishes with fresh fish and organic vegetables. In the morning, Canopy Central, situated in the lobby area, serves an artisanal breakfast. Guests can also opt for a Canopy Breakfast Bag delivered to their room. Canopy Central also runs complimentary wine and beer tastings, and guests can eat at the hotel’s delicatessen, coffee shop or in the garden.
 

The hotel’s 112 rooms and suites are designed with a color pallet of ocean blue and gray. Some rooms have also been decorated with “fun, local twists” such as a little Reykjavik Music Box. 

A 24-hour fitness center is also available.
