Catch a Ride on a Vintage NYC Subway Car

Usually New Yorkers and tourists try to avoid old, slow subway cars except during the holidays. Now through Christmas Eve ride New York City’s vintage subway train. Customers can catch the classic R1/9 car on the 6th Avenue line between Queens Plaza and Second Avenue.

The specialty trip costs the same as a regular fare, $2.25 on a MetroCard, and leaves from Second Avenue at 9:58 a.m., 11:37 a.m., 12:57 p.m. and 3:57 p.m and from Queens Plaza at 10:43 a.m., 12:13 p.m., 1:42 p.m., 3:13 p.m. and 4:43 p.m. Travelers can also catch the subway at Court Square, Lexington Avenue/ 53rd Street, Fifth Avenue/53rd Street, Rockefeller Center, 42nd Street Bryant Park, Herald Square, 23rd Street, 14th Street/Sixth Avenue, Washington Square and Broadway/Lafayette Street.
