Chiva-Som Health Resort has announced the appointment of Sheila McCann as general manager. McCann’s career includes more than 30 years of experience in the spa and wellness industry, having managed destination wellness retreats, five star hotel spa brands and day spas in North America, UK , Europe and Asia .
Prior to joining Chiva-Som, McCann spent five years as the corporate spa director for an Asian luxury hotel group where she was responsible for overseeing more than 35 spas around the world, including 19 CHI brand spas and 20 openings.
Speaking of her appointment, McCann said that “health and wellness have been the center of my interest since a young age. I began my career as a therapist and worked my way up to management. I have worked in many cultures and countries, almost exclusively with luxury properties, gaining an enriched understanding of guest expectations, quality service and branding. For Chiva-Som, I aim to continue its recognition and world-class service standards in conjunction with my passion, experience and strategic knowledge.”
McCann holds an MBA in Leisure and Tourism from Oxford Brookes University in England .
