River cruisers who like the look of Aqua Mekong will be jazzed to hear that Aqua Expeditions is planning major renovations for its two Amazon River cruise vessels, the Aqua Amazon and the Aria Amazon. Both vessels will receive upgrades similar to the luxe level of Aqua Mekong, a fan favorite that we profiled in our August issue.

The vessels’ original designer, Peruvian architect Jordi Puig, is creating the chic new designs, which are set to be completed by December. As for new touches, the suites on the Aqua Amazon will receive reupholstered sofa beds and new cushions, a larger vanity mirror with lights, new wood flooring and USB plugs in the bedside table. Those sailing in the suites on Aria Amazon will experience new flooring and tiles in the bathroom along with a fresh vanity, updated bed linens and furniture. We say these upgrades will make enjoying the view out of the full-length windows even more rewarding. And when it is time to get an up close look at the Amazon, guests will board brand new skiffs that seat up to 10 passengers.
