How far does $25 million go? Plenty far, and it’s all gone into the redesign of Crystal Symphony, which just wrapped up to rave reviews (take it from us, we’ve seen the changes and they are as grand as they are considerable).
What you can expect? Picture Swarovski crystal chandeliers, cashmere throws, sunken Philippe Starck Duravit Jacuzzi bathtubs and chic new pool deck furniture. The makeover extended to the two 982-square-foot Crystal Penthouses, Crystal’s top accommodations, which now have expanded living spaces, floor-to-ceiling dining room windows and top-notch visual and sound systems. But the winner is the new Crystal Penthouse bathroom. In a word, stunning. Philippe Starck bathtubs sit adjacent to ocean-view windows, while glass mosaic tiles and recessed mirror TVs add a modern touch. Safe to say you’ve never seen a bathroom quite like this on a cruise ship.
Penthouses have also had work done. The butler-serviced suites have been redesigned in two new color schemes, featuring new bedding, flat-screen TVs and bathroom accoutrements. Leather sofas have replaced armchairs in all staterooms.
Along with accommodations, the ship’s public spaces have been improved upon. The Lido Café has new food and drink service islands (because how luxurious is a buffet?). Prego, the ship’s Italian restaurant, has new warmer lighting and a richer color palette (think chocolate suede walls and red-wined color upholstery). Finally, the Seahorse and Neptune pool decks now feature crisp white deck furniture with citrus-hued cushions.
The Seahorse also has a new oversized Jacuzzi that is lit at night giving it a sort of blue halo. Big Change: Say goodbye to the Neptune Pool. Due to low use, it was replaced with
additional plush seating.
