Rocco Forte Hotels No Longer Manages The Augustine in Prague

The Augustine, PragueOne of the finest hotels in Prague, The Augustine, is now operating independently since its contract with Rocco Forte Hotels expired this month. When Luxury Travel Advisor had a behind-the-scenes tour of the five-star hotel before its official 2009 debut, we were quickly smitten with its historic features. Housed in a former 13th century monastery, The Augustine has a bar in the vaulted cellar and a suite in a tower complete with a spiral staircase connecting the floors.

It’s reported that Rocco Forte Hotels tried to have the rents lowered on the property; the Luxembourg-based owners of The Augustine sought a new luxury operator (like Ritz-Carlton) without success. This month Rocco Forte also announced its departure from Abu Dhabi. The group has now reduced its portfolio size to 11 luxury properties in England, Germany, Italy, Belgium and Russia.
