Hotel Guanahani & Spa, Saint Barthélemy's only full-service boutique hotel, announced its debut as Le Guanahani following the completion of a four-year, $40-million renovation.
Le Guanahani's managing director Martein van Wagenberg worked with a team of consultants from David M. Schwarz Architects, Luis Pons Design Lab and Pentagram for the project. While a four-year renovation led by David Schwarz and Luis Pons reinvigorated the property's layout and interiors to heighten Le Guanahani's residential feel, Pentagram redefined the property's overall brand identity.
Le Guanahani's new look is inspired by the tropical landscape, with 67 guest cottages that include "Creole Contemporary" and "Explorer" styles, and new suites with an enhanced arrival experience. Meanwhile, the new identity is translated through the hotel's new design, logo, creative assets and programs including a brand new website.
Le Guanahani's guest cottages boast bright hues of turquoise, yellow and lavender. The re-imagined lobby and "Explorer Style" guest cottages have an exclusive Le Guanahani custom furniture collection, designed by Luis Pons and inspired by the luggage chests used by explorers on their journeys through the colonies.
The hotel also includes the Spa by Clarins, with new offerings launching within 2015.
Located on a private 18-acre peninsula between Marigot Bay and Grand Cul-de-Sac on the island of St. Barth, Le Guanahani offers access to two white-sand beaches. The 67 guest cottages, including 36 suites, are decorated in a West Indies style that blends with the surrounding tropical landscape of hibiscus and coconut trees. All rooms and suites offer private terraces, and many have private pools. The hotel's restaurants are Indigo and Bartolomeo.
