Downtown NapaFor those looking for some r&r in California wine country, there will soon be a new address in downtown Napa. The San Francisco Business Times reports that a $70 million luxury property is being developed by LodgeWork Partners in the 1200th block of First Street. Construction will start next spring, with an anticipated opening date in mid 2016. Part of the Napa Center Development project, the hotel is expected to help bring new life to the 150,000 square-foot retail area, by attracting high-end brands. The hotel will have 185 guest rooms.

Downtown Napa is a great jumping off point for Napa Valley excursions and wine tastings. And the city itself has a fabulous year-round events program to celebrate the region’s world-famous wines and cuisine. The holiday season also sees festive light displays and a Christmas tree lighting.

Buzz: As part of its fast global expansion, Andaz recently opened up a beautiful hotel at 1450 First Street in Napa.
