A Taj Mahal Look-Alike Hotel in Dubai?

The latest over-the-top addition to Dubai's hot hotel scene? A replica of the Taj Mahal. CNN Go reports that hoteliers are developing a new resort complex inspired by the fabled landmark. The $1 billion “Taj Arabia” will be part of the larger Falconcity of Wonders Project—a recreation destination with replicas of other world-renowned monuments like the Eiffel Tower, Pyramids, Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Great Wall of China. Slated to open in 2014, the five-star Taj Mahal hotel will have 300 guest rooms, malls, cafes, and sumptuous event space to target the wedding market.

The original Taj Mahal—the greatest monument to love—took over 20 years to build in Agra, India. The white marble mausoleum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
