Junoot Eco-resort

Word on the street is that Amanresorts is planning its first Middle East property in Oman, and it’s music to our ears. The Muscat Daily reports that the upscale hotel brand “has set its sight on a remote coastal town of Shuwaimiya, located 320 kilometers northeast of Salalah, for a one-of-its-kind eco-resort.” Aman junkies prize the 26 global hotels for their unique settings, intimate room count, and discreet service. This location-- in a fishing village on the Indian Ocean-- is right up Aman's alley.

Recently Oman has emerged on the savvy traveler’s radar as an “it” spot for its rugged landscapes and authenticity. An Amanresort would further catapult the destination into the spotlight. The Junoot Eco-resort is being developed by the Kuwait-based United Real Estate Company, with the aim of opening both residences and a high-end hotel (ie Aman). According to The Muscat Daily, the Amanresorts’ media spokesperson did not confirm the company’s planned foray into Oman. But the sustainable design, which has already garnered awards, is very much in line with the brand’s philosophy.
