Amanresorts Opens Amandayan in Lijiang, China

Amandayan

Travelers to Lijiang, the UNESCO-listed city in China’s Yunnan province, are awestruck by the beauty of this fabled destination in Shangri-La country. The Old Town’s tangle of alleyways and canals are set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. It’s here in this beautiful southern province that Amanresorts has opened its latest property, its third in China after Hangzhou and Beijing.

Situated on Lion Hill overlooking Lijiang, Amandayan is Aman’s 28th resort. It was designed in the traditional architectural style of the local Nakhi people, with a series of houses and courtyards that have dramatic views of the surrounding scenery. There are 35 suites decorated with regional materials like Yunnan pine, Dongba wood carvings, elm furniture, and fabrics featuring Nakhi embroidery.

The resort’s Chinese restaurant serves Yunnan and Cantonese cuisine plus dim sum, while the all-day Lounge emphasizes seasonal produce. There’s also a Tea House, a library, a heated outdoor pool, and a private cinema with reclining leather seats. Treatments at the Aman Spa take their inspiration from Traditional Chinese Medicine, while the gym offers yoga and pilates classes.
