Just in time for Fashion Week, there’s a new luxury hotel on the Paris scene and we’re not talking about the Ritz. (Speaking of the palace hotel, Chanel has installed a wheat field on the Place Vendôme!) Amastan opened today at 34 rue Jean Mermoz Paris, a small street between the high-fashion rue du Faubourg St-Honoré and the Champs Elysées, just around the corner from La Réserve. This is coveted 8th arrondissement real estate, a stone’s throw from the Elysée Palace.

As highlighted earlier this year in The Telegraph’s “New Hotel Openings 2016,” Amastan “wants to change the traditional codes of hotel living, and is inspired, instead, by Parisian apartments.” There are just 24 stylish rooms, but the hotel aims to be a gathering space for the great and the good—with a rotating selection of fashion and art exhibitions. The goal is to be “a curated home for the cultured traveler”- with envy-inspiring interiors (there’s a tapestry by celebrity designer Jan Kath, bespoke furniture, and more). Facilities include a bar called Anouk and a verdant courtyard garden.
