Art Buzz: Madrid Museum to Host Exhibit on Marc Chagall

Heads up, art fans! Madrid's Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza is hosting a special exhibit on the works of Marc Chagall from now through May 20.

Curated by Jean-Louis Prat, President of the Comité Chagall, this exhibition will be the first major retrospective in Spain devoted to the popular Russian artist. The galleries of the museum will display work from the artist’s early years and from his period in Paris.

In addition, there will be sections on Chagall’s experience in Revolutionary Russia and in France up to the time of his enforced exile to the United States in 1941. The exhibition space of Fundación Caja Madrid will focus on the artist’s American years and on his subsequent artistic evolution. Attention will be paid to his use of biblical subjects and his relationship with contemporary poets. Also on display will be works in other media such as sculptures, ceramics and stained-glass windows.

The Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza is located at Palacio de Villahermosa, Paseo del Prado 8. Visit www.museothyssen.org for more information and for tickets to the exhibit.
