The Balmoral in Edinburgh Launches Scottish Afternoon Tea

Traveling to Edinburgh and having a hankering for local culinary specialties? Make an Afternoon Tea reservation at The Balmoral, the iconic Rocco Forte Hotel that’s celebrating its 110th birthday this year. Tea in the hotel’s Palm Court is always a special experience, but the newly launched Scottish Afternoon Tea shows off the country’s culinary bounty. Think Blairgowrie beef finger sandwiches, Scottish smoked salmon with cucumber, scones flavored with Scottish heather honey, and traditional sweets like Dundee Cake – a fruit cake made with currants, sultanas and almonds based on a 19th century recipe.

Afternoon Tea is served with 20 loose-leaf teas and costs $50 per person ($70 for the Champagne Afternoon Tea). Available at Palm Court or the Drawing Room from 12 noon to 5:30 pm Monday to Sunday. To make reservations, contact The Palm Court by phone (0131 556 2414) or email ([email protected]). For more information, visit www.thebalmoralhotel.com.
