Baltimore Goes Luxe with New Harbor East Development

When Four Seasons opened their hotel in Baltimore last year, all eyes turned to Charm City undergoing a spirited renaissance.

Now we have word that another luxury hotel is planned for the Harbor East neighborhood, spurring growth as it will revitalize the waterfront east of the Inner Harbor.

Chesapeake Real Estate Group LLC acquired an empty warehouse on Central Avenue and Fleet Street, and in partnership with Bethesda-based Englewood LLC, reportedly plans to convert it into a luxury hotel with 205 guest rooms. Construction could start as early as spring 2013, according to The Baltimore Sun. No word yet on the hotel brand recruited to manage the property. The neighborhood is emerging as a hot spot, according to city and business leaders, and retailers like Anthropologie and J. Crew have moved in.
