Benefit Dinner Will Feature Celebrity Chefs Tonight

Fans of Iron Chef and other cooking competitions will want to get in on this: Relais & Chateaux is offering a multi-course dinner that will be prepared by 45 of its top chefs today, April 16, at Gotham Hall in New York, Forbes is reporting.

The 45 Grands Chefs—who will include Daniel Boulud of Daniel in New York; Jean-Andre Charial of Oustau de Beaumaniere in Les Baux-de-Provence, France; Andrew Fairlie of Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland; Yoshinori Shibuya of La Becasse in Osaka, Japan; Jean-Georges Vongerichten of Jean-Georges in New York; and Michael White of Marea in New York—will reportedly divide up into teams of three. One chef on each team will create a first course, using cold lobster as the main ingredient, the second team member will create a second course of either sea bass or diver scallops, while the third chef will create a main course of either veal or lamb. These courses will be served to guests seated at tables of ten; there will also be hors d’oeuvres, a cheese course featuring three Virginia cheeses, desserts, bonbons, a ceremonial cake, champagnes and wines.

And in a cool touch, an all-female team of chefs, Lan-Shu Chen of Le Mout Restaurant in Taichung, Taiwan; Annie Feolde of Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence, Italy; and Barbara Lynch of Menton in Boston will also be participating.
