Broadway Buzz: Into the Woods to Play Central Park?

Two years ago, Stephen Sondheim's musical Into The Woods earned raves—and not a few awards—for its outdoor production in London's Regent's Park Theatre.

BroadwayWorld.com is reporting is now planning for a transfer to Central Part's Delacorte Theater as part of The Public Theater's Summer 2012 program in New York City. Casting is said to be underway already for the role of 'The Witch' and that the producers are reportedly seeking a big name. Nothing officially has been announced on a possible transfer, as The Public is expecting to announce the 2012 summer season at the Delacorte sometime next month. No word yet on whether this will officially be part of the theater's annual Shakespeare in the Park festival...but what a perfect setting for a musical about forests and woods and what's lurking behind the trees! We can't wait.

The Delacorte Theater in Central Park is located at approximately 83rd Street. Visit www.publictheater.org for more information and tickets.
