Burma Gastronomic Week at Shangri-La Paris

La BauhiniaWith a jam-packed calendar of events, the fall is a fabulous time to visit Paris. One such event—taking place this week—is guaranteed to pique the interest of food-obsessed travelers. The Shangri-La Hotel Paris has invited chefs Aung Kyaw Zaw and Myint Kyaw from Traders Hotel, Yangon to take the helm at La Bauhinia in a celebration of traditional Burmese cuisine. Taking place until September 22, 2013, this week-long fete is particularly timely given Burma's skyrocketing popularity as a touristic destination.

Dishes include spicy shrimp marinated with kaffir lime, fish cakes, curried sea bass, and smoked duck cooked in a banana leaf. The lunch menu is priced at 48 euros. For reservations, call (+33) 1 53 67 19 91 or email [email protected].

One of the finest hotels in the City of Light, the Shangri-La is housed in the former mansion of Prince Roland Bonaparte at 10 Avenue d’Iéna in the 16th arrondissement. There's a new garden wing, and the jewel-like spa has one of the prettiest pools in town. For more information, visit www.shangri-la.com/paris
