The Buzz in Oman: Salalah Rotana Resort is Now Open

Salalah Rotana Resort, Oman

The government of Oman is on a mission to ramp up high-end tourism to the Sultanate, and a new five-star resort is helping achieve that goal. Inaugurated this spring, the Salalah Rotana Resort is the country’s largest hotel, and a keystone for the Salalah Beach project, which will include seven hotels (including Club Med and Movenpick) along the Indian Ocean waterfront.

Set along a series of lagoons and canals and built from desert rock, the resort was inspired by traditional Omani architecture, with stone archways, mashrabiya latticework windows, and Arabesque designs. To cater to the 399 guest rooms, the facilities are vast. There’s a Bodylines Fitness Club with personal trainers; two swimming pools; two tennis courts; Zen the spa; the Flipper’s Kids Club; and several F&B outlets. Note that the Silk Road restaurant and the Beach Bar will be opening soon.

H.E. Maitha Al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary of Oman’s Ministry of Tourism, praised the resort: “It complements our strategy to further expand the country’s key tourism offerings, particularly within the luxury hospitality segment, which is one of our fastest-growing markets. Moreover, this partnership reflects the enthusiasm of international hospitality brands to invest in Oman and take advantage of the enormous potential of the country’s tourism industry.”
