The Buzzy New Beach at Hôtel Majestic Barrière Cannes

Hotel Majestic Barriere, Cannes

Just in time for the Cannes Film Festival, the Hôtel Majestic Barrière has unveiled an entirely new beach area. As featured in the April 2014 issue of Luxury Travel Advisor, the hotel is home to some of the most glamorous suites in the world, and attracts quite the celebrity crowd during the famous festival. The new plage was conceived by acclaimed interior architect Jean-Philippe Nuel, who was responsible for monumental hotel projects like the InterContinental Marseille. Work on the project took place over the winter.

Of all the hotels on La Croisette, the Majestic Barrière’s beach has the largest surface area along the water's edge, and the two restaurants, La Plage Majestic-Barrière and Kinugawa-La Plage, have sweeping views of the Mediterranean. You’ll also find a VIP area with day beds, plus 400 beach and sun loungers with parasols and towels. In keeping with the hotel company's focus on the environment, construction materials were chosen to be eco-friendly. Note that this elegant space was also designed to be welcoming for families.

At the end of the famous pontoon, the nautical centre offers wakeboards, waterskiing and parasailing. It’s run by Patrick Yver, who famously convinced Laëtitia Casta to—in his words- “take a ride over the sea in a parachute, in the middle of the Festival, wearing a beautiful couturier gown.”
