Cape Grace Hotel Completes Bar Renovation, Announces Perks

In Cape Town, the Cape Grace Hotel's Bascule bar is emerging from a five-week renovation.

What makes it special? We hear the bar stocks a global collection of more than 500 whiskies from nearly every producing region, including Scotland, Ireland, USA and Canada. There is also a selection of the Cape's finest wines courtesy of Bascule Vinothèque.

And to accompany the drinks, a tapas menu has been created by Executive Chef Malika van Reenen. The snacks are available for lunch and dinner, either on the deck outside or inside in the more intimate bar area.

Bascule's setting offers great access to the Victoria & Alfred yacht basin and one of the most popular shopping districts in Cape Town. Cool touch: The bar's elite whisky club offers members the opportunity to own private whisky bins for personalized consumption. Members' privileges include exclusive guided tasting evenings and expert whisky purchasing advice under the leadership of Bascule Manager George Novitskas. Members also receive their own personalized cut crystal whisky tumbler and engraved plaques for their whisky lockers. Bascule Vinothèque invites wine connoisseurs, private collectors and companies to store their wines in private bins of the Vinothèque's temperature- and humidity-controlled cellar, for ideal maturation.
