Chocolate in Paris- Patrick Roger Opens "Mine" at Place de la Madeleine

Patrick Roger chocolate in ParisCalling all chocolate lovers. Patrick Roger- one of the finest chocolatiers working in France today- is opening a new boutique on the Place de la Madeleine in Paris. This isn’t just any old shop. The master craftsman is creating a “chocolate mine” underneath the famous Parisian square, where visitors can ogle his chocolate sculptures.

Roger is known for his elaborate artistic creations—made entirely from chocolate—that adorn his shop windows. Often these sculptures represent the environmental problems that Roger has encountered as he scours the earth on a quest for cocoa. (Last spring, he carved hippo sculptures- an animal threatened with extinction.) The new store will open at the end of October 2012.
