Cocktails in London: The Creepy-Crawly Vieux Carre at Artesian Bar

The Artesian Vieux Carre Cocktial at the Langham LondonWe recently told you about the Langham London’s Halloween happenings, and the availability of a real “Tarantula and Scorpion Cocktail.” Well, it keeps getting better. The hotel’s award-winning bar, Artesian, has unveiled another ghoulish tipple-- not for the faint of heart. Head bartender and celebrated mixologist Alex Kratena has embellished the classic Vieux Carré Cocktail, originally created in 1938 by bartender Walter Bergeron at the Monteleone Hotel in New Orleans, with a creepy crawly twist for Halloween. Made with the finest cognac and rye whiskey aged with infused vermouth, bitters and herbal liqueur, Artesian’s Vieux Carré is served over a crystal clear ice ball and served with a side of toasted Colombian giant ants and Mopani worms.

The Vieux Carré Cocktail is available at Artesian, the David Collins-designed bar at the Langham London, throughout October 2011 and is priced at £16.50.
