Culinary Institute of America at Greystone Opens New Café

The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) at Greystone's new café, Bakery Café by illy is filled with freshly baked breads, cookies, pastries and gourmet coffees. Baking and pastry arts degree students and faculty at the St. Helena, California campus supply the mouth-watering menu of morning pastries, lunches of soups, salads and sandwiches and illy specialty coffee drinks to the public.

Open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the café's casual dining area is equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi. However, if patrons are planning a picnic or working lunch, the full menu is available for takeout.

The Bakery Café by illy was made possible by the generous support of illycaffé, a company that has specialized in premium specialty coffee for the last 25 years.

While working in the Bakery Café by illy, students will have the unique opportunity to learn about coffee, from the history and cultivation, to current economics and proper preparation techniques.

The CIA and illy will provide coffee education classes tailored to professionals, like a two-day "Coffee Expert" course and a series of Barista Certification courses. CIA's weekend food enthusiasts courses will offer "Coffee Aficionado" and "Master Barista Series" classes led by illy's  master barista, Giorgio Milos.

"Partnering with the CIA allows illy the opportunity to reach the most dedicated and engaged students in the world, and further expand our education platform which is at the core of our brand. Together, illy and CIA will offer a premier training experience for culinary professionals and coffee lovers alike," stated Andrea Illy, chairman and CEO of illycaffé.
