Cultural Events Announced to Celebrate London 2012

Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, launched a set of giant Olympic Rings onto the River Thames today as he announced a program of cultural events to celebrate London 2012.

From July 21 to September 9, live music, outdoor arts and 'pop up' events will take place throughout the city, including an original "fusion of ballet and film" and a floating opera inspired by The Owl And The Pussycat.

Supported by Arts Council England, the Mayor has also created Showtime, London's biggest ever outdoor arts festival, which will feature outdoor performances in every borough.
