Fashion Goes Retro in London

Dukes Hotel, London

Do your clients swoon over Joan’s dresses on Mad Men? Do they long for the elegance of a Coco Chanel creation? Then they’ll want to head to London this winter: Dukes Hotel, London is teaming up with fashion specialists Ooh La La! Vintage to launch Live & Love Vintage at Dukes, a series of fashion master classes, Champagne afternoon tea events and overnight packages.

The events take place on Saturday, November 6, this year—but if your clients miss it, there will be another on February 19, 2011. The events will be hosted in the Penthouse Suite, which overlooks Green Park, and tea will be held in the Drawing Room.

Guests can enjoy pink Champagne and canapés upon arrival, a proper afternoon tea with all the trimmings and a vintage fashion master class hosted by Ooh La La! Vintage’s fashion expert Tara Munro and Madame Tra La La’s vintage tailor Alice Prier. The master class includes a talk on fashion over different eras: Why vintage is popular, the secrets of vintage glamour, which designers marked history and—best of all—a bespoke try-on session with a private boutique to finish.

Nice Touch: Guests who want to prolong the experience can stay overnight in a Duchess Room with such girlie touches as ladies’ glossy magazines, dressing table accessories, fresh flowers and—delicious!—chocolate brownies and a specially designed cocktail for the fashion set.
