new yorkSad news for New York's cabaret scene: BroadwayWorld.com is reporting that Feinstein's at Lowes Regency will close on New Year's Eve after 14 years.

The Loews Regency Hotel will undergo a major renovation at the beginning of next year, and the venue's namesake (and frequent star performer) says that the cabaret room seems likely to reopen in a different location in the city.

Since opening in 1999, Feinstein's at Loews Regency has hosted artists like Ben Vereen, Chita Rivera, Rosemary Clooney, Barbara Cook, Jane Krakowski, Bryan Batt and Cheyenne Jackson. The room has also presented work by up-and-coming talent, giving young performers their first big-room break.
