Plans are in place for a new luxury London hotel. We hear that the former Port of London Authority headquarters at 10 Trinity Square, set next to the Tower of London, has been bought by Singapore-based KOP Properties and Reignwood Group, a Chinese investment firm.
The group has plans for 120-room hotel with 37 private apartments designed by David Collins. There wil also be a private members' club, three restaurants and a spa. Completion of the project is expected by 2014.
The building, designed by Sir Edwin Cooper in 1922 in an “English Renaissance” style, was headquarters to the Port of London Authority until 1971. The hotel will be part of a new wave of luxury in the area, with a Four Seasons hotel and apartments currently in the works on Broadgate.
The Financial Times reprts that 10 Trinity Square would be the flagship hotel for a new chain that KOP Properties intends to build across Europe. The company is seeking further sites in the UK.
