Four Seasons Lanai Hosts Hula Festival in October

The Four Seasons Resorts Lanai, in partnership with Uhane Pohaku Na Moku O Hawaii, will host the third annual Ho'okupu Hula No Lanai Cultural Festival from October 6 to 8. The festival joins together hula halau from Japan, Mexico, France, Okinawa, Kauai, the Big Island, and Lanai.

Throughout the three-day event, guests can sample from array of cultural experiences, ranging from a hula genealogy workshop to ipu making, to Grammy and Na Hoku Hanohano award winning performances by Cyril Pahinui, Darren Benetiz, Bradda Smitty, Polihua, Mailani Makainai, Holunape and Lorna Lim.

The schedule of events include:

    * Dole Park “Ohana Night” – Thursday, October 6, 2011; 4:00 - 9:30 pm. The Ho'okupu Hula No Lanai festival commences with an opening blessing from visiting halau and performances by Cyril Pahinui, Darren Benetiz and Polihua and the Lanai Halau.
    * Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay – Friday, October 7, 2011; 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. Cultural workshops will be offered throughout the morning and afternoon, including hula, lei making, ipu making, hula genealogy, and slack key demonstrations.
    * Dole Park “International Night” - Friday, October 7, 2011; 4:00 - 9:30 pm. Mailani Makainai and ethnic dance troupes (Hawaiian, Filipino, Samoan, Japanese and Micronesian) will perform in Dole Park. Cultural practitioners, artisans, cultural demonstrations, games, crafts and food booths will also be available.
    * Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay – Saturday, October 8, 2011; 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Enjoy an afternoon featuring the art of hula as the visiting halau will perform and share their unique styles of dance.
