The French Caribbean island of Martinique is getting a new luxury addition. On July 1, French Coco will debut as one of the first five-star resort openings in “a very long time,” to quote Bloomberg. A member of Small Luxury Hotels (SLH), French Coco is located in the traditional fishing village of Tartane on the Caravelle Peninsula, which is a nature reserve. Each of the 17 suites comes with a private pool, covered terrace or a garden. The largest rooms are the Suites Presqu’ile, which measure close to 650 square feet and come with small private pools and a furnished terrace. All rooms come with espresso machines, walk-in showers and free wifi.

A stand-out will be the Creole-inspired French cuisine, made with organic produce from the on-site vegetable garden. Head concierge Philippe and his team are available to customize authentic experiences for guests—whether you’re looking to dive into the local culture or go scuba diving in the turquoise waters just 300 meters from the resort.
