Fresh Look: Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan

After three years under wraps, Sofitel Legend Old Cataract Aswan is ready to open its doors to show off its new look. The five-star hotel sits on the banks of the Nile and is housed in a building that dates back to 1899.

The property is divided into two sections: The Palace wing houses 76 rooms including 45 suites and is done up in historic style (think Byzantine-style arches and other traditional touches). Want more modern chic? We suggest The Nile wing's 62 rooms, including 37 suites. Nice touch: These suites feature private balconies and guest bathrooms overlooking the Nile.

We definitely suggest checking out the new So SPA and the property's four restaurants. Tip: The 1902 restaurant features a Qualaun crypt and sensational decor.
