If so, Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel, in the shadow of Table Mountain, just reopened its Helmsley Wing and Garden Cottages with a cool redesign by the famed team at Champalimaud. The Helmsley Wing is decorated in earthy tones with dark windows and doors, while the cottages have a blue-and-cream color scheme.
The 484-square-foot Helmsley Suites are just steps from The Oasis Pool and The Cottage Pool, and pay homage to the Cape-Dutch presence. The rooms have hardwood floors and geometric patterns.
Guests looking for a private setting (or a romantic setting) should opt to stay in a Garden Cottage. Each cottage is 538 square feet, and the eight garden cottages share a secluded pool. Every cottage sits behind a rose garden and is surrounded by a picket fence, adding privacy. On the inside there is a separate living and dining area, and guests will feel relaxed in their mini-library and enclosed patio.
For those traveling with family, the Classic Suite works well. With an open lounge, kitchenette, a walk-in dressing room and a private balcony, there is plenty of space for everyone.
When it’s time for dinner, head to Planet Restaurant and Planet Bar. These chic eateries have a galaxy theme, which can be seen in touches like the planetary chandelier and the twinkling ceiling. Another unique dining experience is the Chef’s Table. In an alcove in the hotel kitchen, guests can watch the chefs create the dishes and discuss the recipe.
