Gladiator Training at the Rome Cavalieri

While in Rome… do as the (ancient) Romans do and try your hand with a sword. The Rome Cavalieri, the luxurious Waldorf Astoria hotel overlooking the Eternal City’s great monuments, has teamed up with Rome’s Gladiatorial School so that guests can channel Russell Crowe their inner gladiator in hand-to-hand combat. After all, relics of the ancient Roman Empire are still proudly protected in the city (like the Forum, Palatine Hill, and Circus Maximus).

While overlooking this historic skyline in the Rome Cavalieri’s private park, you’ll learn ancient combat techniques (while donning a tunic, Roman sandals, protective gloves, and wooden sword). Pass the course and you’ll get a medal for “Tiro”- or “first level gladiator.” Available to students of all ages from seven years old and up. Contact the hotel’s concierge ([email protected]) for more information.

Home to the Cavalieri Grand Spa Club and the Michelin three-starred restaurant La Pergola, the hotel is located at Via Alberto Cadlolo 101. For more information, visit www.romecavalieri.com.
