Six Senses Zighy Bay, OmanIn recent years, Oman has skyrocketed in popularity among experiential travelers looking for “new” destinations. The landscapes alone—rugged desert mountains emerging from the turquoise sea—are worth the flight. And for a cool experience while in Oman, check out the “DJ Dispensary Retreat” at Six Senses Zighy Bay. Music lovers can learn spinning secrets from pro DJs like Matty Wainright, Brendon P and Stephen Day in a killer beachside setting during this week-long extravaganza.

The first such retreat just concluded (check out the pix on Facebook), but there’s another one scheduled for December 9, 2013. Hands-on lessons are complemented by activities like sunset cocktail cruises, hot rock massages, and daily sunset sessions. The six-night event concludes with a mix-off between DJs.

Six Senses isn't the only hotel to target amateur DJs. The W Verbier just ran an online competition to find its new resident DJ.
